About Me

Jenny Robertson

Educator, Filmmaker, & Creative

The words that we use to describe ourselves are interesting…depending on the words we choose or the images we share, we could all tell hundreds of different versions of ourselves. I am always a communicator, explorer, thrifter, reader 📚, compassionate, kind, a teacher, and lifelong learner.

With a commitment to excellence, a relational motivation, and an authentic, welcoming presence, I aim to bring structure and process to engage others toward growth and fulfillment. Using my artistic eye, creative mind, and ever-growing experience in the filmmaking world, I invest my strong work ethic in my classroom to inspire and teach. I value problem-solving, event coordination, future thinking, being in the ever-enjoyable Jill-of-all Trades position, and the resourceful pivoting that filmmaking requires. I think one of my superpowers is creative thinking! If the script calls for one scene at an unrealistic location or for an expensive car explosion— I’ve already started brainstorming possible workarounds that will look great. ( I teach my producing students to look at these moments as opportunities to shine as a creative.) Additionally, I have a proven ability to manage competing demands while remaining adaptable, flexible, & on task professionally in a classroom, on set, or in my own creative endeavors. With each stroke of my pen, I embark on journeys through emotions, dreams, and the kaleidoscope of human experiences.

I enjoy all modes (narrative, documentary, & experimental) but have recently been growing my tool kit in Digital Media, Animation, Cyanotype Filmmaking, and the ethics of filmmaking.

I have experience owning my own event coordination business, working as a Volunteer Manager for US Disaster Relief Response, as an EMT, television producer, and as a film production professor. I love teaching and assisting students with building their creative toolboxes. 🎬
